DanceMantra runs on people who turn up: setting chairs, driving a van, holding a hand in the circle, and quietly paying for someone else's term.

What needs doing

Most of our volunteers started as participants. You don't need dance experience — you need to be reliable and reasonably warm to strangers. We ask for a term's commitment so participants see the same faces week to week.

Floor assistant (Gentle Movement, Wednesdays)
Youth session support (Thursdays)
Front desk & welcome (Sundays)
Transport driver (own licence, we cover fuel)
Showcase crew — lighting, sound, front of house
Grant writing & administration
Supper and kitchen roster

Anyone volunteering with people under 18 must hold a current Working With Children Check. We'll reimburse the application fee and walk you through it.

Where every dollar actually goes

We publish this breakdown because we'd want to see it before giving. Percentages are drawn from the 2024–25 financial statements tabled at the AGM and reviewed independently by Renshaw & Co.

Fee waivers for participants on a Health Care Card, DVA card, or who simply tell us they can't pay this term.
Venue hire & utilities

Our lease on 48 Everard Ave, plus heating the hall through an Adelaide winter and cooling it in February.
Teacher fees

Professional rates for cultural teachers and our registered Dance Movement Therapist. Committee roles remain unpaid.
Equipment & access

Sound gear, sprung floor repairs, chairs, the accessible ramp, interpreters and Auslan for showcase nights.
Administration & insurance
5%
Public liability, association fees, the annual independent financial review, and the office phone.
